The following is posted on the city's website.

There will be a JOINT PENSION BOARD MEETING (Police and Non-Uniform) held on September 11th, at 2:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall. Merrill Lynch will be present and also a representative from Segal Actuarial Co. will give a presentation..

The vast majority of our Council People work during the day. How many of them have the option to take a Wednesday afternoon off to go to a City Meeting?

Ms Keller, Mr. Owensby, maybe Mr. May may be able to attend. How are the others supposed to be able to participate?

Most of the Citizens work during the day what about them?

Looks like a total eclipse of the sunshine laws' intent.

What I don't understand is why the pension boards are not run similarly to the other City Boards.

The Board of Adjustment meets on the second Tuesday of the Month. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the last Thursday of the month, and the pension boards? Well, there seems to be no regularity to their meetings at all.

Like all other bodies of the City Government the pension board meetings are public and should be accessible. While I guess it is easier to get actuaries and the like in to meet with them during the day it is impossible for most residents, let alone the employees who's lives are impacted the most by the decisions made at these meetings to attend.
