Not Bellicose on Bellecote

At last night's meeting I had a chance to discuss the tax issues surrounding the property at 2910 Bellecote with Les Dills. Dills explained that he has been attempting to get this property OUT of his name for a few years, as it should have never been registered to his trust. Years and attorney fees later it is still showing on the real estate tax database in his name.

However, he did provide documentation from the St Louis County Department of Revenue that verifies this information. He is providing such documentation to the city clerk. I have uploaded a copy of this letter to our Filebox in GoogleGroups. You can read the letter here.

? of the Week: Should Les Dills remain on the ballot?

Lone Ward 4 candidate Les Dills just cant seem to get it right. A quick check on the St Louis County Revenue's real estate database shows that Les is--once again--deliquent in his taxes on his property at 2910 Bellecote Ave.

Will the City Clerk do her due dilligence and find this discrepancy?

Will Les Dills remain on the ballot?

The Results are in...

Well, not the results so much as the candidates.

I dropped by city hall on the way home and here is what seemed to be the final listing of candidates for the April elections.

Ward 1
Jerry May
Richard Knode

Ward 2
Jeff O'Connell
Kent Hedlund
Nancy Allison
Janet Dietrich

Ward 3
Ken Owensby
Tim Frigillana

Ward 4
Les Dills

I overheard a phone call where Jones was claiming his buddy signed up for the ward 3 race. If so, city hall was mum about it.

Employee Show Your Ass Night at the Workshop Meeting

The most interesting thing to come out of the workshop last night was the appaling behavior of the city employees. A few examples:

Chuck Boone
During the discussion of whether to give Boone a raise or not, some questions were raised about job performance and how to handle giving this position a raise affects budgetary mattters once a real PW Director is hired. Someone said they should table the issue until an executive session after the next council meeting. I am not sure if he was insinuating he would quit, but Boone started slamming down his paperwork and then said something about the city should start looking to hire someone. (I thought it had been previously agreed to wait until a CA is hired, but since when does the city council/mayor follow-up or follow-through on anything.)

Lisa Rodolfi
When presenting her ideas for the Beautification Funds, she took a my way or the highway approach. Rodolfi wanted to prioritize her pet projects. She wanted her chosen few on the committee and noone else. Rodolfi said if that didn't happen, she would "wash her hands" of the whole thing. She then proceeded to go on a profanity-laced rant with the council.

Sherry Middlecamp
The biggest winner and definitely one to put the PW department in the most negative light. She interrputed the meeting. Why wasn't the police chief escorting her out of the building? She is a hypocrite! Despite an ongoing dialogue during the meeting that can only be described as both saracastic and bitchy, this city employee later calls an elected official a saracastic bitch!
Just to refresh your memories, this is the lady who got a patronage job, couldn't handle her original assignment and was put into Public Works where she could do less harm. But, less harm only if you were not the employee let go to make room for this "rat".

Trash Grants and Poverty Level Guidelines

This is posted on the city's website in regards to the trash grants that were approved at Monday's meeting.

TRASH ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The City of Overland has established a Trash Assistance Program to help needy residents with payment of their trash collection bill which will be paid directly to the trash collection agency. There will be a 30 day sign up period beginning February 1, 2008 and ending March 3, 2008. A copy of your 2006 Missouri Tax Return; 2006 Federal Tax Return, and most recent bill from Allied Waste must be presented at time of applying. For more information, contact Overland City Hall @ 314-428-4321

Here is a link to the story in the Overland-StAnn Journal. Neither mentions much about the criteria. The ordinance states it is tied to federal poverty guidelines.

I just wonder. Do the people that fall into these guidelines actually own homes and thus are responsible for their trash service? How are the people being notified about this program? Or, in other words, will we get the budgeted 200 people to participate?

Introducing the Official OVCC2 Video Site

What could be better than this blog? Associated video content of course! Thus, we introduce the Official OVCC2 Video Site.

We are starting off small, with some of the trash debate from the 1/14 meeting (probably posted tomorrow) and other associated stuff.

But what is better than this video that highlights that THE HONEYMOON IS OVER for Schneider and Owensby. (Sorry about the camera movements--I was having all kinds of battery issues!)

CA Search Update

Again, TPTB in Overland seem to have Buck Collier on speed dial, but not the various city council members. The Journal has an updated CA search story stating over 30 people have applied for the City Administrator position.

No word on whether Doug Saye was one of the applicants as rumored here.

Overheard at the Council Meeting

The one thing about moving the meetings to the council chambers is that you can hear everyone's conversations. I sat down in the back and took it all in, and boy was there some eyebrow raising stuff to hear.

3rd Ward Race
Apparantly, the Owensby charm has faded for Schneider and his supporters. Why do I think this? Well, there was Empty's reaction to Owenby's shenanigans during the meeting. Then there was the whispers about a friend of Ward 4's Tim Jones running against Owenbsy in Ward Three.

Out-Munsching the Munsch Silliness aka Saye It Isn't So
Two ladies sitting in front of me were talking about the CA process. According to them, former council member Doug Saye has applied for the position. What?! Besides being a council person does he have any relevant experience? Doesn't he work at Citigroup?
Last night's news said Citigroup was laying off about 8000 people. Maybe Saye is grasping at straws for some job security. But it is definitely grasping at straws since he doesn't meet any of the qualifications.

Empty's Supporters are Foolish
A lot of COGG folks in the crowd. They still prove to be immature and display boorish behavior. Will Empty put them in check? Or, since they are basically supporting him does he turn a blind eye?

Speaking of COGG
Giroux spoke during residents comments to say how wonderful COGG is and to report on Ol' Empty's special assignment. This was where a few COGG members drove around town and documented vacant lots. A Schneider family member had been overheard saying this was just "busy work" for COGG. Seems like Ol' Empty wants this group to stay together--for his future re-election hopes--and needs to find this group of senior citizens something to do. I mean, how many committees can one make up to assign these folks too?

Taking the Credit
A person behind me, a known Purznerista, was indignant that Schneider was taking credit for the Mobil on the Run--a project known to be in the works long before Schneider even moved back to Overland.

Best Overheard Comment
After the meeting, I heard an elderly gentelman say: "Boy, this sure is a group that loves to hear themselves speak." Watch the broadcast Thursday night and see how this holds true to Ol' Empty, Owenby and especially Boone.

That's it for this "Gossip Guy" XOXO

Meeting Reminder and Location Question

The following is posted on the City's website:

COUNCIL MEETING LOCATION CHANGE: Starting Monday January 14, 2008 all public meetings will be held at the Council Chambers of City Hall, 9119 Lackland Rd. unless otherwise announced.

Don't they need a stay from a judge to change the location?

Why change this now when the community center accomodates more people, more comfortably (e.g. more accessible to the not as physcially-abled, the elderly)?

The agenda is posted online here. Most interesting things are the settlements with the cellular companies (money everyone is salivating to spend) and a bill for trash assistance to members of the community.

2007 Gravy Awards part 1

Gravy Crane Durham said...
I'll be handing out my 2007 Gravy Awards over the next few days.

The Gravy is a gold plated gravy-boat mounted on a decorative marble base. No other bric-a-brac in the world endows one's mantel with the prestige of a Gravy.

Prior to awarding the 2007 Gravys', let us first start with a new feature, our Lifetime Achievement Awards.

First off....The Lifetime Achievement Award for Carpetbagging goes to the person who has most defined the genre. Sweaty "Donna Dills" Pickle.

The Lifetime Achievement Awardfor Carpet-Wearing also goes to another person who has risen above the fray and is now considered Overland's resident master of disguise. Kenny "the Coach" Blowensme.

This year's Gravy for Best Use of a Pedophile in Municipal Politics and Civil Lawsuits goes to Ann Purzner for her retaining Eric Tolens in the Dody v. Purzner Sunshine Law Hubbub.

In addition, this year's Gravy for Best Use of an Ass Counter as Expert Witness by a Pedophile in Municipal Politics and Civil Lawsuit goes to Sweaty "Donna Dills" Pickle. Although she didn't directly retain Tolens, Tolens reliance on Sweaty's Council Meeting Ass Counts in Dody v. Purzner Sunshine Law Hubbub is legendary.
Special mention also goes to Sweaty for her tireless defense of her association with Eric Tolens. Sweaty says she wouldn't know a pedophile if he came up and .... represented her thus relieving her of any culpability in her relations with Mr. Tolen.

More from the 1st Annual Academy of Reasonable Analysis Gravy Awards after these messages.

City Administrator Update

According to an article in the Journal, 20 applications have been received thus far for the CA position.

Any bets on whether the entire city council was aware of this status? Or, is everything filtered to everyone via Buck Collier these days?

2007 Year End Awards

I was hoping someone else would come up with some type of list. How about we colloborate on the best/worst of Overland in 2007.

Here are some I came up with:

The "Mayor That Never Was" Award---Ann Purzner
I think this honor is pretty self explanatory.

The "I Never Heard a Name I Wouldn't Steal" Award--Jay Fetsch
This is a guy that has multiple names on his own website chat. If that wasn't enough, he steals the names of the other people on his site (and even tried it here). I guess it should not be surprising considering his past crimes. But, the idea that Felonious Fetsch is a buddy of MT Schnieder is a bit scary.

The "Child Molestors are People, Too" Award--Donna Dill
Pickles' defense of Purzner's lawyer-du-jour Eric Tolen would make any parent sick.

I know there are a ton more that are out there. What are we missing? Post your awards in the comment section.
