Over the weekend I had the opportunity to watch Sailor's video of the October 29 City Council workshop. During the debate on how to help those who cannot pay for their trash, Les Dills states something about people were "spending their trash money at the boat".
Casinos! Yes, that is the reason why no one can pay their trash bill. It's not the rising cost of living, the lowering of wages in comparison. It's not that gas has been over $2.50/gallon for months. It's not the skyrocketing cost of healthcare, including prescription meds. It's not like we haven't seen an abundance of foreclosures in North County. No, sir--according to Les Dills it's because of slots!
(Someone cue the "It's the economy, stupid")
I just find the whole thing ironic, considering the man had to be bullied into paying his property taxes by those on this blog and the Contrarian's. Maybe ironic isn't the correct word is the word I am looking for here. Perhaps HYPOCRISY is better!

Yeah, outrageous. But I personally prefer Tim Jones' idea to have a trash dump where poor folks can bring their trash for free. Anyone think about how Overland's rat population would support Jones' trash heap proposal?
Put it in ward 4.
If Ward 4--Specifically MVE, please!
Let's take this one step further. In order to get help w/trash.
1. No going to the boat.
2. No more perms (at $50 a whack)
3. Forget a dye job
4. No more weekly wash & set
5. Bingo out of here
6. Card parties forget it
7. No more barber (buy a Flobee instead)
8. Cards w/$5 for the grandkids goners
9. Forget renewing your membership at the Com. Ctr.
10. Decline any and all invitations that may require giving a gift.
Sorry,
11. No buying of Girl Scout cookies.
12. No buying of fund raisers for school or sports teams.
And last but no least just skip Christmas all together.
Carol,
You know darn good and well that Lester Dills made the casino comment which was reported here but did not originate here.
Your M.A.T.#14/Finewine one-two punch was epic.
Gravy
Dills not only has no use for those who have money issues, but it seems he has a problems with the seniors as well. Stange considering he is one.
Dills needs to make sure this City Event is monitored to make sure all those who go can pay their trash bills.

Kill you cable/satellite T.V. also onelayer. But, there is a good deal of truth in your satire.
Well I find that most of the neighbors in MVE are so full of it that a dumpster would perhaps be a really great solution. Perhaps we could start by recycling the same losers who have been behind and in front of the scenes running this city into the ground for decades. Connect the dots.
Apparently, trash isn't the only area that Dills finds issue.
"but you can bet there are so many more."
If you can tell me how many you think is so many and the amount you desire to bet, I'll consider making book on your wager.
So you believe the City should continue to waste its time discussing a social welfare red herring issue such as means-tested trash assistance for two people, one of which has already been helped? I won't book that wager.
Wouldn't this type of assistance be perfectly suited for Schneider's Ward Warriors? If not this pressing issue, what are the Ward Warriors designed to accomplish?
Now three months into Schneider's term and the Ward Warriors have accomplished nothing. NOTHING. Not one person has been helped, oops, I forgot Schneider has been helped.
During the past year,I have often been labeled a cynic for arguing against pipe dream volunteer discussions such as this, but here we are "all volunteer talk no volunteer walk".
I am sure there is some hypothetical compromise that will perfectly solve this issue, but darn those Laws of Economics clouds my ability to see such compromise.
I'll be waiting with shovel in hand. As soon as the do-goo-ers actually do something, I'll put my shoulder behind it.
There is a county ordnance prohibiting regular citizens from transporting trash from their home to anywhere. This is to keep people/neighbors from having one house pay for trash service and two homes share the service. Of course they will say it’s for sanitation reasons. Also, I believe Ch. 4 is doing a story Thursday about the rat problem everywhere.
Has anyone any comments on Schnucks most recent loss leader to get people in the store? They are supplying people with free 21 day prescriptions of about 50 different oral antibiotics. They also give free refills. Brilliant marketing plan to get people in the store for 45 minutes while you wait for the script.
Anyone catch Buck Collier breaking the Legion Pool story. Next week Collier will break the story that Public Works Director Brooks is retiring.
What the Buck?!
The story made it sound like Legion Pool closed yesterday, not yesteryear!
