Here are some experienced folks!

According to a story on KMOX this morning, University City is laying off 21 employees. Surely some of those folks had positions similar to those in which we are hiring.
Surely this would be a better alternative than the "watering down of qualifications to hire friends of Empty" plan we got going now.

Maybe the more appropriate heading of this entry should be
"Hire Some Experienced Folks"

Heard through the Overland Grapevine that the PW Dept did hire a part time inspector several weeks ago. Does the council know? My guess is no they don't.

Interestingly enough I also heard this person was a member of the elite club of select new employees that are members of COGG. So who is it? Don't know but would love to find out.

It appears if you need a job and you are interested in working for the city of Overland you should first join COGG. Elliot Davis and the Dept of Labor where are you? Sounds like the hiring practices of the Mayor should be investigated.

I didn't know that part of the COGG mission statement was to be a jobs program for the "undesirable and unhire-able" within the membembership.

This is off the subject but today in the post under help wanted was an as for Munsch Landscaping in Overland. If you get a chance to read it please do. There are several other ads from landscaping businesses but his ad is minus one item. Like to know what you think.

I saw the ad. It seems Marty runs his business like TPTB run the city: "No experience required. No educational requirements"

Munsch's ad makes no mention of the "legal ability to work in the US" as the other ads state.
While this doesn't necessarily mean he is hiring illegals, Onelayer is right in that the absense of the statement does raise eyebrows. (Especially in light of the "no housing" statement.)

You give him nine digits, two dashes and you got a job. No questions asked.

Speaking of disingenuous hiring practices, we are now about 12-weeks into the Schneider Administration and are no closer to installing a City Manager. About eight weeks ago, Buck Collier reported Schneider was "moving closer" to hiring a City Manager. I believe Schneider stated hiring a City Manager was one of his central campaign promises and top on his agenda.

Buck hasn't stayed with the story. That type of work is better suited for a journalist.

Perhaps Schneider is waiting for a child/grandchild of Giroux or other COGG member to graduate from trade school. He thinks of it as grooming.

Perhaps Schneider already has a candidate. Citizens of Overland, may I present our new City Manager, Buck Collier.

Finally, I would like to start a City Manager Over/Under wagering pool. Please submit a date upon which you believe the City of Overland will have hired a City Manager? Person closest to actual date will win the pool.

I will play!

I put the date around March 31. Just in time for the April elections and avoiding citizens with torches storming city hall.

Thank you Ort Contrarian, but I am afraid you are not being specific enough.

What year did you have in mind for your wager? 2008,2009,2010.

I was hoping that would go unnoticed. My first intentions were 2008. Upon further thought, 2010 may be a better choice since that is when Empty is up for relection.

Seven Days prior to the date in 2010 when candiadates can file for Mayor.

It may be ealier if MT Schneider persuades Tupperware to open a Big Box Outlet store somewhere on Psge.
