Overheard at the Council Meeting

The one thing about moving the meetings to the council chambers is that you can hear everyone's conversations. I sat down in the back and took it all in, and boy was there some eyebrow raising stuff to hear.

3rd Ward Race
Apparantly, the Owensby charm has faded for Schneider and his supporters. Why do I think this? Well, there was Empty's reaction to Owenby's shenanigans during the meeting. Then there was the whispers about a friend of Ward 4's Tim Jones running against Owenbsy in Ward Three.

Out-Munsching the Munsch Silliness aka Saye It Isn't So
Two ladies sitting in front of me were talking about the CA process. According to them, former council member Doug Saye has applied for the position. What?! Besides being a council person does he have any relevant experience? Doesn't he work at Citigroup?
Last night's news said Citigroup was laying off about 8000 people. Maybe Saye is grasping at straws for some job security. But it is definitely grasping at straws since he doesn't meet any of the qualifications.

Empty's Supporters are Foolish
A lot of COGG folks in the crowd. They still prove to be immature and display boorish behavior. Will Empty put them in check? Or, since they are basically supporting him does he turn a blind eye?

Speaking of COGG
Giroux spoke during residents comments to say how wonderful COGG is and to report on Ol' Empty's special assignment. This was where a few COGG members drove around town and documented vacant lots. A Schneider family member had been overheard saying this was just "busy work" for COGG. Seems like Ol' Empty wants this group to stay together--for his future re-election hopes--and needs to find this group of senior citizens something to do. I mean, how many committees can one make up to assign these folks too?

Taking the Credit
A person behind me, a known Purznerista, was indignant that Schneider was taking credit for the Mobil on the Run--a project known to be in the works long before Schneider even moved back to Overland.

Best Overheard Comment
After the meeting, I heard an elderly gentelman say: "Boy, this sure is a group that loves to hear themselves speak." Watch the broadcast Thursday night and see how this holds true to Ol' Empty, Owenby and especially Boone.

That's it for this "Gossip Guy" XOXO

The funniest thing I heard was Owensby's repeated statements of "I will not break the law" when voting down the trash plan. An hour later he was asking Boone to violate copyright law and make a copy of an entire book for him.

You would think that someone who claims to be a teacher would know a bit about copyright and plagairism. But, then again the teaching thing appears to be just a claim and not a fact.
