Employee Show Your Ass Night at the Workshop Meeting

The most interesting thing to come out of the workshop last night was the appaling behavior of the city employees. A few examples:

Chuck Boone
During the discussion of whether to give Boone a raise or not, some questions were raised about job performance and how to handle giving this position a raise affects budgetary mattters once a real PW Director is hired. Someone said they should table the issue until an executive session after the next council meeting. I am not sure if he was insinuating he would quit, but Boone started slamming down his paperwork and then said something about the city should start looking to hire someone. (I thought it had been previously agreed to wait until a CA is hired, but since when does the city council/mayor follow-up or follow-through on anything.)

Lisa Rodolfi
When presenting her ideas for the Beautification Funds, she took a my way or the highway approach. Rodolfi wanted to prioritize her pet projects. She wanted her chosen few on the committee and noone else. Rodolfi said if that didn't happen, she would "wash her hands" of the whole thing. She then proceeded to go on a profanity-laced rant with the council.

Sherry Middlecamp
The biggest winner and definitely one to put the PW department in the most negative light. She interrputed the meeting. Why wasn't the police chief escorting her out of the building? She is a hypocrite! Despite an ongoing dialogue during the meeting that can only be described as both saracastic and bitchy, this city employee later calls an elected official a saracastic bitch!
Just to refresh your memories, this is the lady who got a patronage job, couldn't handle her original assignment and was put into Public Works where she could do less harm. But, less harm only if you were not the employee let go to make room for this "rat".

I volunteer to head-up committee to hire replacement for Chuck Boone. If he doesn't like his compensation he should look for employment elsewhere.

Does that dude ever stop putting his hand-out and acting like he is necessary to the future of Overland?

At least once a quarter Chuck throws a public hissy-fit about not being compensated as a Civil Engineer.

Does he believe his contribution to the City is somehow unique and cannot be easily replicated?

I do know he would be hard pressed to find a better position elsewhere. If he could, he would have already done it. But then again, that would take effort.

As far as Lisa Rodolfi goes, I choose the highway for her. Don't even know her but anyone that cannot speak publicly without cussing like a Ward 3 resident....Adios. Lisa, nothing beautiful about your mouth.

Let me say that all positions in Overland are patronage.

The Middlecamp lady is entitled to her opinion but again if you can't use your inside voice when working for the City you should be shown the door.

I actually think it a good time for all disgruntled free-loaders working for the City to pack their gear and go find employment where sloth is rewarded relative to work. Your more suited for such a position.

Why our elected officials want to stagnate the growth and potential of Overland is beyond me. They are cutting off their noses to spite their face. They all live and own homes in Overland, if they continue on the path of ruin (as they are hell bent on doing at this time) this area’s home values will continue to decline in value and people that may have wanted to live in Overland will go elsewhere. Why not just annex Overland with Wellston now and get it over with. This slow death is ridiculous.

I am glad to see I wasn't the only one who feels like Lisa R was out of bounds last night. While I appreciate a person who wants to go above and beyond, I do have issues with someone who acts as if noone else can, could, or would contribute.

Council members notified her of folks who were interested. She ignored them. Say what you want about the elected officials, they are our representatives. Ignoring them is as good as ignoring us!

What on earth is wrong with this council. If Boone threatened to resign why in the hell didn't they let him?

Mr. Boone, would you be so kind to turn in your keys tonight before leaving and good luck with your job search.
