Owensby: Sellout Extraodinaire

Who needs to stay home and watch Two and a Half Men when one can get a hearty laugh watching the Overland City Council at work. The laughter was audible and continous during Owensby's rant last night. The rant subject: How the city should hire Frank Munsch to be the City Administrator?

I'm laughing now just typing about it. Just something more to Munsch on.

Edited by ORT Contrarian: I was given a copy of the audio and isolated the Munsch statement here.

Suzy--I'm not sure what was funnier. Owensby's love for Munsch or the Boone-doggle comment.

Only Boone could propose in a meeting discussing how folks can't pay for their trash, an ordinance that would cite and fine those same people.

Miss Suzyjax
Please tell me this post is a joke. Owensby seriously nominated Munsch for the City Administrator? If this is not a joke what was the reaction of the other Councilmen? What was MT Mayor’s reaction to Owensby’s rant?

Rick,
Would I lie to you? Perhaps I might tease and poke fun--but this straight up happened. Not suprising, considering this.

Sailor did videotape the workshop meeting. I am sure he will let us know when he has the video poated.

I was there and can confirm this. And thankfully the video tape uploaded properly and the audio is clear for the most part (I can't seem to get rid of the annoying buzz in the background I always seem to pick up when recording in the Council Chambers). I should have the article about the meeting completed and online, along with the 2 hour and 20 minute or so video, later this evening.

Councilperson Owensby did suggest former Mayor Frank Munsch as a candidate for City Administrator.

He Also took up a lot of time during the discussions about both trash service and the City Administrator with his "Owensbyisms", myths and fables.

It's ridiculous the he still says St. Ann pays half as much for trash as we do when he knows they only pay for about half the service. I wonder what he will do after the November election if St. Ann voters don't pass a utility tax increase and St. Ann has to stop partially funding the trash service all together.

Decreasing revenues and increasing operational costs are the reasons St. Ann has said they will need to either raise taxes or cut services.

Sound familiar?

Wasn't Owensby always carrying on about the number of lawsuits the city was or had been embroiled?

And isn't Frank Munsch lack of oversight and his own behaviors responsible for many of those same legal actions?

It is just total hypocrisy. Or is it total pay-off?

Munsch involvement in Overland politics may be just the thing that is needed in The Bureau. The files have already been dusted off and reviewed at length. His returned would require at least 2 more agents to be transferred to St. Louis.

This is History repeating itself, Munsch brought in Purzner, Mark Brown, Donnie Mason, Charlie Karam, the Original Gangsters of this City. I just wonder what the falling out was over when they split way. Almost any moron can see this.

What's Eddie Williams doing now? You remember his tenure as OPD's Chief. Officers doing burglaries, getting in wrecks, while stoned, missing weapons, Glocks for everybody.

I lived here through that reign of terror. But those were the good ole days for Ken Purzenby.

Thanks but no thanks Kenny baby go peddle your arms and bullsh#t somewhere else. How about Wentzville you spend most of your time there anyway.

The Coach, Kenny Blowensme. What a piece of work. What would, or I should say will, do without him?

A couple of considerations may bring Blowensme's adoration of Munch into better focus:

1. Frank would not challenge Kenny for the annual Most Ridiculous Creature to Live on an Alderman's Head Award.

2. Pay back "The Boss" for telling the "I called Kenny to remove a tree in my yard. Kenny is the only Alderman to ever call me back" narrative ten thousand times over the past year.

3. Kenny is...errrr....umm...how you say......single.

Therefore, Kenny doesn't have to worry about Frank poaching a significant other, someone's wife, a potential wife, domestic partner or girlfriend.

With Cyalis on his side, Frank would be spending most of his time sowing his adulterous oats leaving the actual administration of the City to traditional grifters and plate lickers like Kenny.

Either way, hide your women, Fornicating Frank is back and looking to drive a few hard bargains.

I will say in one respect Frank was a great visionary. There was a time when Frank Munch had the first and only Space Invaders machine for miles around. Video games, which starts with V, which rhymes with T, which stands for trouble.

I used to get so pissed-off because every time I would top Frank's High Score and take his name off the board on my way home from school, Frank would unplug the machine that night, reset the high scores, play a few games so he could get back his high score designation.

Vanity is the ruination of everyone, but I must admit, Frank used to love himself some Space Invaders.

It seems to me that if the reports SuzyJax posted are true and Munsch and members of his family have contributed to the campaigns of any Overland election, that there would be an inherent conflict of interest that would eliminate him from contention.

Realistically, does anyone really think the votes are there among the council members to bring Munsch in as CA?

Does anyone believe that the odds favor Overland's elected leaders to do the right thing?

I didn't believe the votes were there for Lester Dills, they were.

I didn't believe that Schneider would promise everything to everyone, he does.

I didn't believe Schneider was so unprofessional to use patronage for everything, he does.

I didn't believe the Journal would be a shill for Schneider, they are.

Do I believe the votes are there, no, but see above.

I doubt if the votes are there but if you buy enough council seats who knows. It has been blowing in the wind that Munsch said "don't make Mikey look bad and I'll help with your campaign"

Overland needs Frank Munsch like we need a hole in our head

Gravy,
Those are exactly my thoughts.
My sense of credulity on the limits of this council are stretched at each and every meeting.
