Development and Progress

I see that the former Kribs Ford City has been leveled and made way for a new Walgreens. Wow! Development.

Wait....that's not in Overland. Once again, progress "just outside" Overland.

One more not on this...
And it is related in that it deals with drug stores.

Within walking distance of City Hall there are two pharmacies. And, at least two other pharmacies in the city.

Why, then, does City Hall have promotional material for Wal-Mart and its pharmacy?

First, there is not a Wal-Mart in the city of Overland.

Seond, Wal-Mart might just put some of those pharmacies mentioned above out of business.

Way to be pro-Overland, City Hall!

The parcel is two lots owned by Walgreen's Properties and for sale to the highest bidder. Unless something has changed, Walgreens is not planning to develop the properties.

I thought the same Gravy. But, when I was stopped at the light on Warson at Page, it seemed to me like it said "Coming soon, a Walgreens". I thought if that were true, then they were just going to make it a mini-strip mall (is that redundant) with outparcels?

I had not had my coffee, so would not swear that to be true. I know I was thinking they are giving QuikTrip a run for their money on the whole "can't swing a dead cat without hitting one" game.

Not that I go around swining dead cats, mind you.

It's going to be a Walgreens for sure. Oh yea lets promote business outside of Overland like a Walmart. Maybe that is why the Mayor was promoting joining up with Chesterfield and Olivette at the OBA meeting for a recreational center in their community not ours. MT Schneider is a real piece of work

Yeah, I hear what your saying Suzyjax.

One sign looks like "real estate" the other looks like a "coming soon", so probably "coming soon". Your right though, that is a nice piece of property and certainly bigger than the needs of an individual Walgreens.

Personally I would like to see some work on what can be done in regard to Master Plan/Zoning Code to induce similar type of Mixed-Use developments currently flourishing along Olive Blvd. between I-270 and Craig Rd. as well as South along Ballas Rd.

Yeah, I know I am dreaming again.
