The article referenced states that the "stars are lining up" for Overland. Actually this article brings to light the lack of action by our city to take advantage of the Hwy 40 shutdown. Instead of the stars being aligned it is more like seeing stars as we realize we have been punched by a lack of leadership in our city.
What else has been missed this millenium by our city "mis-leaders"?
- Centenne development (hey, we are just as centrally located as Clayton and no eminent domain needed)
- Move of National Records Center operations
- Any type of development at Page and Dielman

I'm not sure if I can add to the list. However, I would like to add that until we get a CA, it will just be shooting stars that fly by Overland.
The Hwy 40 project was no secret. The Page Extension has also brought people through Overland.
Two gifts from MoDOT that we have ignored.
I really don't see how this Fischesser thinks Overland will benefit. He says "seeing headlights" as a reference to car traffice. I say "caught in the headlights" as we have let any opportunity to truly benefit by this pass us by.
We can't just wave a wand and have instant development.
Meanwhile, our mayor sits and writes letters.
I don't mean to be too cynical, but with Schneider he is never specific. He says he is writing letters but nobody has actually seen one of these letters.

It is laughable that MT Schneider thinks that his letter writing campaign will bring about any economic development. I find it more insulting for him to tell us this, than the prior administration who did nothing.
He should first address the issues on why businesses have been run off in the past.
He should realize that Overland has a non-friendly business reputation, as well as a reputation for--hmm, shall we say, interesting politics.
We need profesional help!

Finewine, you are right to a certain extent. But, Ann was elected April 2006 and developments such as these take longer than 2 years to get going.
No, the blame lies on the pre-Ann era. You know, the same guys pulling the strings for the current mayor.

Well isn't it grand the good old boys are back running the show . Just heard one of the employees eligible for retirement penned a letter to the council asking changes be made to the pensions for his sole benefit. Let's think about if Overland had a City Administrator do you think that type of personal note would have even been allowed to go out? No it would not.
Imagine you are an employee of General Motors and you don't like your pension and retirement package after 35 plus years. So when you are about ready to break free and retire you decide you want a better deal so you write a letter to the CEO's and Directors saying its just not fair.
Life isn't fair.
